3TR Presents Research on Severe Asthma at ERS Congress 2025

Researchers from the 3TR consortium participated in this year’s European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress, held from 27 September to 1 October 2025 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. As part of the EU Project Sessions, organised by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the European Lung Foundation (ELF), the 3TR team presented advances in identifying novel immunological treatment targets in severe asthma.

The session opened with an introduction to 3TR by Dr Stefania Principe from Amsterdam UMC, who outlined the project’s overarching goals and its distinctive cross-disease, multi-omics approach. Building on this overview, subsequent talks focused on 3TR’s respiratory research. Dr Ekaterina Khaleva from the University of Southampton presented the COMSA study, introducing new tools for assessing treatment outcomes in severe asthma, while Dr Johan Kolmert from Karolinska Institutet focused on the topic of urinary lipidomics for precision medicine, showcasing how molecular biomarkers can support more personalised approaches to care.

The session concluded with an engaging discussion and Q&A, bringing together a diverse audience of clinicians, researchers, and patients. The exchange underscored 3TR’s collaborative approach, bridging molecular science with clinical insights to advance respiratory health and foster more precise, patient-centred treatment strategies for severe asthma, COPD, and related immune-mediated diseases.
